Kathmandu: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has expressed its approval of the government's decision to establish a committee to investigate disputes related to dedicated and trunk line electricity. In a press statement released today, the FNCCI anticipates that the committee will find a sustainable resolution to the issue.
The FNCCI has urged relevant authorities and the government to reinstate dedicated power supplies to industries, emphasizing the industry's "right" to uninterrupted access to power. Noting that the government has formed a judicial body to investigate the matter, as per the FNCCI's demand, and directed the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to restore power supplies to industries, the organization welcomes these steps taken by the Council of Ministers. The FNCCI expresses gratitude to the government for addressing the matter and hopes that no negative activities affecting the private sector will transpire.
The organization appreciates the government's commitment to addressing the issue amid the economic challenges facing the country. It should be noted that the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday formed the committee, led by former Supreme Court judge Girish Chandra Lal, with the authority to examine disputes regarding the tariffs of dedicated and trunk line and submit a report.
